FACHPACK Takes Stock After Three Successful Trade Fair Days

“This was the FACHPACK we have known and appreciated for a long time,” was the verdict of exhibitors and visitors at FACHPACK 2024, which closes its doors after three days. The organizers speak of an extraordinary success. Around 37,000 trade visitors (compared to 30,705 in 2022) came to Nuremberg. Visitors learned about the latest trends and innovations at the stands of the 1,455 exhibitors and discussed pressing packaging issues with experts. The main theme of “Transition in Packaging” could be experienced in all halls and in the supporting program.

“The great response speaks for itself: Despite a changing packaging industry and many challenges, the European packaging industry at FACHPACK was extremely innovative, solution-oriented and confident,” summarizes Heike Slotta, Executive Director Exhibitions, NürnbergMesse, with satisfaction.

“FACHPACK has proven once again to be a clear signpost and source of inspiration for the European packaging industry. And we need that! Because the packaging industry is in a state of flux. New regulations have to be implemented and high expectations of sustainability and the circular economy need to be met,” says Slotta. At the same time, demographic change is presenting the industry with challenges. “And there are also issues surrounding energy supply, supply chains, digitalization, and artificial intelligence. For three days in Nuremberg, we experienced live how innovative, solution-oriented, and optimistic the industry is in the face of these challenges and how it is helping to shape change,” says Slotta, summarizing the mood at FACHPACK 2024.

FACHPACK offered a comprehensive range of solutions and innovations on the topics of packaging, packaging technology, and processes. Visitors to FACHPACK came to the exhibition center from 81 countries. After Germany, the top 10 countries were Austria, Switzerland, Italy, the Czech Republic, Poland, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Turkey and Hungary. The international share amounted to 33 percent.

Trade Visitors: Top Decision-Makers on Site

96 percent of trade visitors were satisfied with the range of products and services on offer in the exhibition halls, according to the results of a visitor survey conducted by an independent institute. Around 90 percent of trade visitors stated that they were involved in purchasing and procurement decisions at their company. Two thirds of them hold management positions. The visitors came primarily from the packaging, food and beverage, chemical, pharmaceutical and medical, automotive, logistics, retail, non-food, electrical and electronics, as well as services sectors.

The networking event Women4Packaging met with a great response: Around 150 female industry players took advantage of the unique opportunity on the first day of the trade fair to network on site and discuss current topics and trends in the packaging industry.

New: “Packaging Machinery Forum”

In early summer 2025, Packaging Valley e.V. and FACHPACK will cooperate for a new format called “Packaging Machinery Forum”. The forum for the packaging machinery industry will offer exclusive insights into the future of the sector and focus on its topics. Technological issues such as digitalization will be highlighted, as well as questions about business models, developments in the markets, and how to ensure secure production in the future. As a networking platform, the forum is intended to facilitate direct connections with decision-makers and thought leaders in the industry. More details will be announced in the near future, according to FACHPACK.
