POWTECH 2023: Technical Program More Diverse Than Ever Before

At POWTECH 2023 in Nuremberg, numerous national and international companies will present the latest process technology solutions. The exhibition explicitly includes integrated processing of solids, semi-solid products, and liquids. The trade visitors come from numerous sectors, primarily chemicals and cosmetics, food and feed, pharmaceuticals and the battery segment. The PARTEC Congress, the international scientific congress for particle experts, will be held in parallel. For visitors from the packaging industry, the exhibitors from the packaging/labeling product groups should be particularly exciting.

However, the exhibition and congress are not the only crowd pullers. In addition, the diverse technical program (link) on all three days of the trade show will provide impetus for innovations in a wide variety of bulk solids processing industries. The program also includes several innovations that are being presented for the first time. For example, a special VDMA show in Hall 2 is celebrating its premiere.

In addition to a wide range of exhibits that enable resource-conserving solutions, the special show will focus on current challenges such as the shortage of skilled personnel. Visitors will be able to discuss these and other topics, such as the “biologisation of industry” trend, with VDMA representatives.

This time around, there are even two versions of the expert forum “stagetalks”: stagetalks I will address all POWTECH visitor segments, while at stagetalks II, vendors of pharmaceutical processing technology will for the first time use separate streams to show the solutions they have to offer. Start-ups will be given a separate platform, and there will also be special highlights for students at this year’s event. In addition, anyone wanting to experience a live explosion in a safe environment will have the opportunity to do so twice a day.  Demonstrations on explosion protection at real industrial plants are a spectator magnet at every POWTECH.

In Rotation With FACHPACK

POWTECH continues to expand its importance as a technology platform for the processing industry and – after this year's trade show – will operate under a new concept as POWTECH TECHNOPHARM. POWTECH 2023 under the old name will be followed by POWTECH TECHNOPHARM from September 23-25, 2025, in the Exhibition Center Nuremberg – in co-location with PARTEC 2025 and FACHPACK.

The TECHNOPHARM section of the trade show is dedicated to pharmaceutical process engineering, which which intersects with mechanical process engineering – in the manufacture of solid drugs in tablet form or the production of cough syrups by dissolving solids in liquids, for example. In addition, the pharmaceutical and life science industries require apparatus and equipment to manufacture liquid, semi-solid, sterile and aseptic products, which are filled into containers such as vials and syringes.. These processes are particularly important for biotechnology, which holds market opportunities across a range of sectors. Heike Slotta, Executive Director Exhibitions at NürnbergMesse, explains the rationale behind the new concept: “With the combined brand POWTECH TECHNOPHARM, we offer a home for suppliers of process technology and their customers. As a three-day working exhibition for talking shop and finding solutions, with technology at our fingertips, with a European focus. And an important piece of news for the community is: the concept will be relaunched and adapted to current needs.”

NürnbergMesse and APV (Arbeitsgemeinschaft für pharmazeutische Verfahrenstechnik e. V.), one of the conceptual sponsors of the trade fair, are intensifying their cooperation for POWTECH TECHNOPHARM. “With POWTECH TECHNOPHARM and the agreed cooperations with PARTEC and FACHPACK, we are heralding the start of a new chapter of the long-standing and successful cooperation between APV and NürnbergMesse,” says Jörg Breitkreutz, President of APV.

POWTECH TECHNOPHARM participants will also benefit from the fact that the trade fair will in future be held every three years at the same time as FACHPACK, the European Trade Fair for Packaging, Technology and Processes. After POWTECH 2022 was held in parallel with FACHPACK 2022 due to pandemic-related postponements, trade visitors to both events were impressed with the combination of processing and packaging: almost half of POWTECH exhibitors said in the exhibitor survey that they had reached FACHPACK visitors.
